Eve Smith

a visual 2D artist who uses the female form in a narrative way to creatively change minds

Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work.

She is a practicing artist with a studio in the Manchester District of Richmond(VA), her mediums include oil, watercolor, and mixed media with an emphasis on the figure as a narrative form, having exhibited locally and regionally. Last year she ran for city council on a platform of supporting public arts and biking infrastructure. She daily teaches as a multi-disciplined artist and continues to be an arts leader, artist, cultural producer and activist

the Artist

Eve Smith completed a BA in Studio Arts in 2006 from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. While an undergraduate, she studied abroad in Rome, Italy in the summer of 2004. She was accepted as an artist in residence thru the Arkansas arts council in 2005 at which she taught in seven elementary schools in the Van Buren/Fort Smith area from 2006 thru 2008.

She became the Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs Center of the Ozarks in 2010 where she has curated multiple exhibitions, one being co curated Sensory Iconoclasts with Case Dighero, previous Culinary Director at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and grew one of the largest summer visual arts camps in NWA. She championed visual arts site-specific programs in the area and administrated one of the largest mid central professional development programs in the south, Artist INC.

Her public programs focused on social practice and inclusion in the city of Springdale working with inclusive organizations such as the Stitches and Latinx groups, Latin Arts Organization of Arkansas and Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese.

She now resides in Richmond, VA where she leads an art department at one of the top private schools in the area.
